Israel Successfully Carries Out Arrow-3 Weapon System Test

The first flight test of the innovative Arrow-3 Weapon System was successfully carried out by the Israeli Ministry of Defense and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The Arrow 3 system is designed to provide ultimate air defense by  intercepting ballistic missiles while they are still outside the earth’s atmosphere. It is considered to be one of the world’s best interceptors due to its breakthrough technological capabilities. This system is the product of a decade of dedicated Israeli and U.S. development.

“The test campaign that has been conducted has been one of the most complicated tests that have ever been conducted by the State of Israel. We’ve executed successful multi-system interception tests, overcoming many engineering challenges,” explained Boaz Levi, IAI Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Systems, Missiles, and Space group.

The Arrow-3 is a supplement to Israel’s multi-layered defense system against attacks from the country’s local and regional enemies. The other components of the system are the Iron Dome that targets short-range rockets; David’s Sling which specializes in tactical ballistic missiles, medium to long range rockets, and cruise missiles; and the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 systems, which are anti-tactical ballistic missiles defense systems that work both inside the atmosphere and outside of it. The Arrow-3 development program was a collaborative effort by agencies in both Israel and the United States, such as the U.S. Missile Defense Agency; the Israel Ministry of Defense Mission to New York; the Department of Production and Procurement; the Director of Security for the Defense Establishment; and IMDO, a division of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
