Israel Has World’s Third Most Educated Adult Population

Israeli adults are the third most educated population in the world, behind only Canada and Japan, according to data compiled by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The OECD study found that over 50.9 percent of Israelis between the ages of 25 and 64 had acquired a two-year, four-year, or vocational program degree. The review lauded Israel’s commitment to government-funded early childhood education and the vast proportion of GDP that the country spends on education. The OECD noted in its report that as globalization and technology continue to reshape the needs of labor markets worldwide, the demand for individuals with a broader knowledge base and more specialized skills continues to rise.
